Mavera TV's award-winning series “Sarı Defter” broke the channel's all-time record for shared viewing with its third-season finale, reaching 14.2 million people. On the same night, 1.9 million simultaneous streams were measured on Mavera Play, the platform's highest-ever instantaneous usage.
The journey of the series
Starting in autumn 2023, “Sarı Defter” tells a story of debt, inheritance and loyalty about a family living in a historic business hall in Istanbul. Watched by 4.1 million people in its first episode, the series grew steadily through the season. Writer Meltem Çakıroğlu said the record was down to “an honest bond with the audience.”
Finale night highlights
- Shared viewing: 14.2 million people; a 31.4 percent audience share in the main evening slot
- 2.3 million interactions on social media; first place on Türkiye's trending list
- The live “From the Writers' Room” special after the finale: 3.8 million viewers
- Viewing of the series archive rose 340 percent after the finale
Production quality
The series is filmed on Mavera Prodüksiyon's Kavacık stages and at locations on the Historic Peninsula. For set design, real business halls were studied for 14 months, and period account books and photo archives were scanned with advisors and reflected in costumes and sets. Real masters worked on the kitchen and craft scenes.
New season and spin-offs
Filming of the fourth season is expected to begin in spring 2027. Episodes can be watched on Mavera Play with subtitles in nine languages. The production team is also talking with a cultural institution in Istanbul about an exhibition, “The Story of Sarı Defter,” featuring set pieces, costumes and replica ledgers from the show.
Sponsors and advertisers
The finale aired with four main sponsors and 42 advertisers. In line with broadcasting principles, product placement was announced at the start of the episode. For series sponsorship packages and next-season ad slots, contact the Advertising and Brand Partnerships team.

Cast and notes from the director
Director Hakan Sönmez described filming the finale as “three weeks of real teamwork.” The business hall courtyard where the final scene takes place was built at full scale on the stage, and the costumes for the 140 extras were made with handwoven fabrics. Cast member Ayşen Torun said she trained for a year in bookkeeping and reading old handwriting for her role.
The writing team is planning to add two new characters next season, taking viewer comments into account.
With the total number of episodes reaching 87, the production team provided jobs for 1,100 people during the third season.
